OBD2 scanners communication ways: USB, RS232, Bluetooth and Wifi

In the following parts, I conclude four OBD2 diagnostic scanner communication ways: Via COM port, serial port, Bluetooth, WIFI.OBD2 diagnostic scanners connect to PC via USB(COM port) USB OBD2 diagnostic scanners allows you to use your PC and a hardware interface to get the information from your car’s computer, instead of show the test result directly on the interface screen, like stand-alone code scanners. These tools usually are very professional and works with one or more car models, they support reading fault codes, clear fault codes, read data live, etc.

OBD2 scanners connect to PC via RS232 (Serial Port)
In the list of our supplied OBD diagnostic scanners, some ones are connected to PC via RS232 (serial port). These tools includes: Honda HDS, Mercedes Benz star C3, star C4, Nissan Consult Diagnostic Interface, SBB key programmer, MC68HC05 Motorola 705 Programmer, Motorola 705 Programmer, MC68HC08 908 Motorola Programmer and more. These tools contain professional diagnostic tools, car key programmer, ECU programmer, and more. No matter what the function they own, they works via serial port. OBD scanner communicate with computer via Bluetooth
We all know the pc-based OBD scan tools are working by USB cable that is connected computer to diagnostic interface, also part of OBD2 diagnostic tools are communicated by Bluetooth, take VAS5054 for example, VAS 5054A is a universal diagnostic interface for the vehicles of the Volkswagen Group and all OBD vehicle systems from other manufacturers. The integrated Bluetooth interface connects the vehicle with a notebook, desktop PC or test system. No cables are needed for vehicle diagnostics using the VAS 5054A. The range of the wireless Bluetooth connection is 5 to 10 meters, depending on the environment and the type of Bluetooth adapter used on the PC side. The Serial Port Profile (SPP) is used for data transfer via Bluetooth. Different Bluetooth security levels are supported. Besides, we also have other Bluetooth OBD scanners, such as: ELM327 Bluetooth, Nissan Consult 3, Launch X431 Tool and Launch X431 Diagun.

OBD scanner works via WIFI
Today we introduce a new OBD2 scan tool, which is working by WIFI communication. This tool is WIFI327 WIFI USB OBD2 EOBD Scan Tool; WIFI327 OBD2 scanner is the latest PC-based scan tool. It supports all OBD-II protocols and is dispatched with a number of compatible programs. The output protocol (connection to laptop) is USB cable, it adds the new communication way: WIFI, the range of WIFI is more than 20m, and works much stable compared with Bluetooth communication.
